Sourav Ganguly the Legend of India

Sourav Chandidas Ganguly is a former Indian cricketer and captain of Indian national team. He was born into a wealthy family. Ganguly was introduced into world of cricket by his elder brother Snehasish.  He started his career by playing in state and school teams. Presently, he is 5th highest run scorer in ODIs and was 5th person in history across 100,000 run landmark and only 2nd Indian to cross that landmark after Sachin Tendulkar. Wisden ranked him 6th greatest one day international (ODI) bastsman of all time, next to Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Brain Lara, Dean Jones and Michael Bevan.






After a series of plays in different Indian domestic tournaments like Ranji and Duleep trophies, Ganguly got his big break while playing for India on tournament of England. He scored 131 runs and cemented his placed in Indian team. His place in team was assured after successful performance in series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Australia, winning Man of the Match awards. In 1999 Cricket World Cup, he was involed in partnership of 318 runs with Rahul Dravid, which remains highest overall partnership score in World Cup tournament history. He is one of the top ten Indian cricketers.
